What to expect

This On-site training enables any organisation to have their employees train on the Telescopic Handler which they are familiar with and permits them to operate in a rough terrain environment they know and understand. This allows basic, familiarisation and if required specific training, such as safe use of attachments, to be carried out as part of a package deal that will greatly enhance the candidates learning.

To assist candidates in their studies they will receive a safety lecture, instruction booklet and be able to view a DVD relating to Telescopic Handler safe operations; prior to be given operational instruction by a Your Health & Safety Company highly experienced instructor/examiner.

All successful candidates will be awarded a NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) certificate of competence, verifying their skill and ability. This certification is widely excepted throughout the building trade and can be used as evidence of training that will be recognised excepted by the H.S.E.


Course Content

At the end of this course it is envisage that candidates will have the underpinning knowledge and understanding of safe Telescopic Handler operations. All of the training Your Health and Safety Co provide is in line with the approved guidance set by the awarding bodies and the HSE.

Course Content:

  • Health and safety legislation, as it applies to Plant Operators.
  • Theoretical knowledge of plant operations.
  • Operator's responsibilities, with regards to daily/weekly checks of machine.
  • Familiarity with the equipment and use of Operator's manual
  • Safe and best practice in practical plant operating methods.

During the driving skill test a highly qualified instructor and examiner will guide all the delegates through their actions and deeds to confirm they hands-on skills, giving them the confidence and capability to work safely in a busy working environment.

Ratio of training: 15% theory 85% practical.


Assessment

Prior to commencing a practical assessment, all delegates will be able to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of Telescopic Handler operations by completing a theory test paper, consisting 25 questions; 5 open questions and 20 multi choice questions. 80% is the required pass mark.
After confirming their awareness of the hazards and dangers of Telescopic Handler operations they will be given a practical assessment.
